Have you ever struggled with grounding yourself and letting go of your worries? Have you tried and failed at meditation before? Worry not! People who find meditation difficult often have a hard time focusing or becoming more self-aware of themselves. Therefore, using crystals can be quite a game-changer - it helps a lot to have something physical with you to keep in mind. If you’ve been struggling similarly, then luckily for you, I created this guide to meditating with crystals!

What you need

The most basic things you need to begin meditating with crystals are:

  • A chosen crystal
  • A will to practice

There are no other essentials you’ll need to begin your meditating journey. Meditating is not about what fancy crystals or gemstones you use, so you don’t need more than a simple one of your choice. However, if you’re already experienced in the practice, then you might add a few other things to make the environment more comfortable and engaging for you as well, such as:

  • Essential oils
  • Incense
  • Candles
  • Crystal grids
  • Herbs
  • Images of people you admire

How to Meditate

a) Cleansing

Once you’re done setting up your environment and choosing your crystal, cleanse your crystal by running it through water or sea salt if possible. Continue the cleansing by passing it through incense (sage smoke is very common for this). Take care, though - you don’t want to damage your crystal.

b) Incorporate the crystals

There are several ways you can use the crystals as you meditate. You can hold it in your hand, but some don’t like that level of proximity. Alternatively, you can set up a circle of crystals or grids to have something to focus on if you keep your eyes open throughout the session.

c) Set your intention

The next step is to ground yourself and ask the divine powers or even Mother Nature to help you with your session after the cleansing is done. The important thing is to make sure you have a clear intention for your session. For instance, you may want to clear your head of negative thoughts, bury something in the past, or let bygones be bygones. Make sure you keep that in mind.

d) Don’t be worried

Connect and sync your breathing with the crystal’s vibrations. Don’t be too worried about getting distracted. There’s no point in beating yourself up for this - try to shut your eyes, so nothing unnecessary captures your attention. Instead of worrying, acknowledge your thoughts and let them go one by one until your mind clears out.

e) Close your session

As a beginner, try not to go overboard. A session of 20 minutes is more than enough for novices. If you feel yourself getting too exhausted, take a break, and try again the next day. As you close your practice, you will gradually start taking in yourself and your surroundings. Stretch slowly and feel yourself coming back to your body. It’s crucial not to rush the process, or it’ll all be for naught!
