Shades of Orange Smoky Quartz with Spessartine Garnets

If you love garnets like me, join me on my quest to collect every color of garnet under the sun (literally). Here we have two different shades of orange garnet growing with smoky quartz, another quartz favorite of mine! These spessartine garnets and smoky quartz specimens are formed on the feldspar matrix.

Light orange on the left has grown quite uniquely, like a garnet sandwich amidst light gray smoky quartz. While the specimen on the right has beautiful garnet cubic formations in a deep red, its smoky quartz points are clear and well defined, with some garnets piggybacking them.
